Aave’s leading risk management firm, Chaos Labs, announced it is exiting its three-year partnership

Aave risk-management partner Chaos Labs has announced its official exit, citing reasons including long-term losses, the departure of key personnel, and disagreements with Aave Labs on risk management philosophy. Although Aave Labs proposed a $5 million budget plan, Chaos Labs believed the amount actually needed was $8 million, and the two sides’ disagreement over risk priorities was difficult to reconcile. In response, Aave Labs CEO said that the V4 migration has no mandatory timeline and that V3 will continue to operate normally.

Bank of Canada research: Aave V3 had zero bad debt last year, but borrowers bear most of the risk

A Bank of Canada research report states that Aave V3 on Ethereum is expected to achieve zero non-performing loans in 2024, with a total loan volume of about $6 billion. The report analyzes the effectiveness of over-collateralization and automatic liquidation mechanisms in protecting lenders, finding that leveraged loop transactions are mainly driven by large investors, liquidation activity is concentrated in a small number of assets, and it has little impact on market prices.

Aave V4 Major Upgrade Yet Falls Below $95: Is DeFi Good News Failing or Has Market Pricing Logic Changed?

Research from the European Central Bank shows that governance power in DeFi protocols is highly concentrated, with the top 100 token holders controlling over 80% of the token supply, and the top 5 addresses of Aave and Uniswap holding nearly 50%. A large number of governance tokens are held by protocols and exchanges, and the anonymity of identities challenges claims of decentralization, impacting regulatory compliance.
