Golden Finance reports that the class action lawsuit against TaskUs in New York has been amended to include allegations of systemic security failures and concealment of incidents related to the Coinbase customer data breach. The revised indictment was submitted on Tuesday in the Southern District Federal Court of New York, adding significant details previously disclosed regarding the handling of Coinbase customer data in this large-scale data breach incident—from the event's origin at the end of 2024 to Coinbase's final disclosure in May this year, with estimated losses reaching up to $400 million. A Coinbase spokesperson stated: “This is a criminal bribery scheme that began at the end of 2024, utilizing external vendors and a small number of Coinbase customer experience (CX) employees located outside the United States, thereby implementing social engineering fraud on less than 1% of monthly active trading users.”
