Well, finally the Mitre train recently resumed operation, although it's still not what we expected. It started running again in early March, but only up to Belgrano, so if you're traveling to Tigre, you'll have to make do with that for now. The Retiro terminal only connected properly on March 8th, after security tests were delayed.

What happened is that they were modernizing the entire signaling system at the station, something that hadn't been touched in over a hundred years. Imagine the chaos of migrating that to new technology without interrupting service. That's why the Mitre train had to operate with limitations for a while while they finished work at the Cabín de Empalme Maldonado.

Now that it's up and running, the good news is they promise to reduce the trip to Tigre by about ten minutes, and by the end of the year, it could be up to seventeen minutes shorter. They renovated 29 kilometers of tracks, fixed stations and bridges. The remaining maintenance is done at night so as not to disrupt our routine anymore. So patience, the service should improve quite a bit from now on.
