Toilet paper is something you use every day, so you want to choose carefully, but with so many options, it's hard to decide what to buy. There are many well-known brands like Elleair, Nepia, and Scottie, and whether you choose double or single ply also makes a difference.
After actually comparing 18 popular toilet paper products, I realized that the key points are softness, absorbency, and how often you need to change the roll. The ideal is fluffy and soft, properly absorbs water, and doesn’t require frequent replacement.
The number one is Nippon Paper Crecia’s Sisty. It has truly high absorbency and effectively soaks up water after using the washlet. It’s soft and gentle on the skin, but only 40 meters long, so you’ll need to replace it more often. Second is Oji Nepia’s Oshiriseleb. It contains moisturizing ingredients, and thanks to the pulp, it’s super fluffy. Its absorbency is excellent, but it’s also only 40 meters, so you’ll need to buy more eventually.
Third is Scottie Flower Pack, which offers longer rolls from 1.5 to 3 times the usual length. With 75 meters, it reduces the frequency of replacement, and its absorbency is also great. However, the texture is a bit less soft. Elleair Toilet Tissue by Dainippon Printing balances softness and absorbency well, but at only 25 meters, it’s short.
Costco’s Bounty Tissue has high absorbency and helps save money, but the fabric is a bit stiff and rough. Daiso’s toilet paper is attractive because it’s inexpensive, and its absorbency is decent, but the texture is firm and it doesn’t last long. Amazon Japan’s toilet paper has high absorbency but is only 50 meters, so you need to buy regularly. Dainippon Printing’s Deodorizing Toilet Tissue balances absorbency and softness, but it’s prone to tearing when wet, so be careful.
Ultimately, when choosing popular toilet paper, it’s important to clarify your priorities. Do you prioritize skin-friendliness, absorbency, or reducing how often you need to replace it? If you use the washlet frequently, prioritize absorbency. If you have sensitive skin, focus on softness. Since it’s something you use long-term, finding the right toilet paper for you will lead to a more comfortable bathroom experience.
