Iran President Releases Open Letter to the US Ahead of Trump Speech

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially released an open letter addressed to the American people on Thursday morning. This diplomatic move was made just a few hours before US President Donald Trump was scheduled to deliver a national address at 9:00 PM ET.
In the letter, Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran bears no hostility toward the American people, Europe, or neighboring countries. However, he criticized recent actions by the United States, which he described as aggression against civilians and infrastructure, leading to long-term global instability.
Pezeshkian stated that Iran's current military actions are a measured response based on the legitimate right of self-defense. He also reaffirmed that the decision to withdraw from the (JCPOA) Nuclear Deal was entirely made by the US government, and continuing the confrontation path would only be a futile and costly step.
Concluding his statement, Pezeshkian conveyed that the choice between confrontation and engagement has real consequences. He reminded that throughout its history, Iran has been able to withstand various foreign aggressors.
