Just updated my SASSA details online and realized a lot of people don't know how simple it can be if you're on the SRD grant. If you need to change your banking info for the R350 payment, the whole thing happens on their portal—no office visit needed. You just enter your ID number, they send you a link via SMS, and you update your account details there. Takes a few days to verify, then you're good for the next payment.

But heads up: the account HAS to be in your name only. No joint accounts, no third-party stuff. And watch out for fake websites claiming to handle this—use the official SASSA portal only.

If you're on a permanent grant (old age, disability, child grant), it's different. You actually have to go to a SASSA office in person, fill out the Payment Method Change Form, bring your ID and a recent bank statement, and they'll process it. Can take up to 21 working days, so if you want the change to show up next month, submit before the 15th.

Changing your phone number works similarly—SRD grants let you do it online through their contact portal (they'll send an OTP to verify), but permanent grants usually need an office visit or a call to 0800 60 10 11. Either way, keep your contact details current or you'll miss payment notifications. Anyone else recently sorted this out?
