I saw an interesting report circulating from Arkham estimating Vitalik Buterin's net worth at over $833 million. It's practically a huge figure, but considering how he entered the crypto world, it makes sense.
Most of his wealth comes from the massive amount of ETH he received at the launch of Ethereum in 2015. In 2021, when ETH hit $3,000, he was briefly a billionaire. Now, his known Ethereum holdings amount to about 245,278 ETH. Given that ETH is around $2,100 today, we're talking about roughly $831 million just in ETH.
What strikes me is how Vitalik has always maintained a certain discipline with his holdings. He claims he has never held more than 0.9% of the total ETH supply, and the numbers confirm this. Over time, he has sold part of his holdings, both for personal needs and due to the network's inflationary dynamics.
In addition to ETH, Vitalik Buterin's net worth also includes investments in other projects like StarkNet and tokens such as KNCL, WETH, and DEGEN. But it's clear that most of his wealth is tied to Ethereum.
One important thing: that $833 million figure is probably conservative. There could be undisclosed holdings and non-cryptographic assets that no one knows about. So, Vitalik Buterin's actual net worth could be even higher.
Compared to other ETH whales, Vitalik stands out as the main individual holder. Exchanges and institutional managers hold larger quantities, but as an individual, he's virtually unmatched. It's interesting to think about how his wealth remains closely tied to Ethereum's value and the crypto market in general. When ETH rises, his net worth rises; when it falls, his net worth falls.
