Gate has introduced Gate Vault, a next-generation multi-chain self-custody wallet powered by Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology. The solution divides private keys into multiple shards, which are then distributed across user devices, Gate servers, and third-party providers. This ensures that the private key is never stored in one place, dramatically lowering the risk of single-point failures and private key exposure.

Gate Introduces New MPC Multi-Chain Secure Wallet

Gate, a globally recognized digital asset trading platform, has unveiled Gate Vault, its latest security solution. Gate Vault is a multi-chain self-custody wallet built on Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology, empowering users with comprehensive, transparent, and robust control over their crypto assets.

MPC technology ensures that private keys never exist in a single location. Unlike traditional wallets that rely on a single private key, Gate Vault splits the private key into multiple shards and distributes them across different nodes. This design guarantees that the complete private key is never present in one place, dramatically reducing the risk of key exposure and single points of failure.

Four Layers of Protection: Gate Vault’s Security Foundation

  1. Distributed Key Architecture: Minimizing Single Point Attack Risks
Gate Vault uses a three-party distributed storage system. Key shards are held separately by the user’s device, Gate’s servers, and a third-party provider. Even if an attacker compromises one shard, they cannot reconstruct the full private key, offering a security level far superior to traditional wallets.
  2. User-First Asset Control
The system adopts a 2-of-3 authorization mechanism, requiring explicit user approval for any fund operations. Gate and the third-party provider only hold key shards and cannot initiate transactions independently, ensuring users retain complete control over their assets.
  3. 48-Hour Delay Mechanism: Added Security Buffer
For withdrawals, Gate implements a 48-hour delay before funds are settled. If any suspicious activity is detected during this window, users can immediately freeze the transaction, effectively preventing unauthorized transfers or abnormal logins.
  4. Comprehensive Disaster Recovery: Asset Recovery Under All Circumstances
If Gate’s services become temporarily unavailable, users can recover their key shards using the third-party provider and open-source tools, ensuring secure access to their assets even in adverse circumstances.

MPC as an Emerging Trend: Gate Advances Its All-in Web3 Strategy

With more users moving from centralized accounts to self-custody wallets, MPC technology is fast becoming the standard for secure architecture. Gate Vault not only strengthens Gate’s overall security framework but also enhances its comprehensive presence in the Web3 ecosystem.

Gate Vault is part of Gate’s expanding suite of Web3 infrastructure, which includes:

  • Gate Layer: A Layer 2 network delivering high-performance on-chain infrastructure
  • Gate Perp DEX: Elevating the decentralized derivatives trading experience
  • Gate Fun: Supporting on-chain project launches and community engagement
  • Meme Go: Providing real-time meme coin trading analytics and monitoring
  • Gate Private Wealth Management: Serving the asset allocation needs of high-net-worth clients

These offerings demonstrate Gate’s commitment to building a comprehensive platform for the future of Web3.

Usage, Fees, and Availability

Gate Vault currently supports transferring funds back to Gate accounts and charges a 0.1% security maintenance fee (capped at $100) for withdrawals. This fee supports the delay mechanism and overall security maintenance.

Additional details:

  • VIP3 and above users can access the service free of charge for a limited time
  • General users will be able to activate the service for a fee (coming soon)
  • The feature is available in Gate App version V7.23.6 and above
  • Activation requirements may increase in the future; early activation is advised

Conclusion

The launch of Gate Vault marks a significant advancement for Gate in security and self-custody. Leveraging MPC, multilayered protection, and comprehensive disaster recovery, users can manage their assets within a fortified security framework. This innovation also strengthens Gate’s Web3 ecosystem—from infrastructure and trading experience to asset management—building an open and trustworthy Web3 platform. Gate will continue to drive technological innovation and deliver a more secure digital asset experience for users worldwide.

Aster vs Hyperliquid: Which Perp DEX Will Prevail?

Aster and Hyperliquid are the two representative protocols of the "purpose-built L1 path" within the current decentralized perpetual exchange (Perp DEX) sector. As a pioneer in the field, Hyperliquid has built a deep liquidity moat through its highly mature order book architecture and strong community consensus. Conversely, Aster, as a rising challenger, seeks to leapfrog the competition in high-performance trading through more aggressive multi-chain aggregation logic, private transaction modules, and an underlying execution environment optimized for 2026 market demands.

AI-Native Settlement Layers: How United Stables Is Building the Next Financial Rail

Stablecoins were originally designed as dollar substitutes within exchanges, primarily used for asset pricing and trade settlement. As on-chain financial ecosystems have matured, their role has expanded beyond simple payments to include collateral assets, cross-chain liquidity mediums, and unified settlement units. In particular, as AI systems and automated agents begin to participate directly in economic activity, demand has risen sharply for programmable value units capable of instant settlement. This shift is pushing stablecoins toward the role of foundational financial infrastructure.
