Overview

Gate's intelligent risk control system provides asset managers with comprehensive risk management capabilities. By monitoring key metrics in real time (such as fund size, Net Asset Value (NAV), drawdown, position exposure, and leverage) and combining them with flexible threshold-based rules, the system enables risk alerts and automated interventions to ensure safe and compliant operation.
Establishing a robust risk control framework is not only a requirement for product distribution, but also an effective way to protect investor interests. A systematic risk management mechanism can minimize investment risks, enhance investor confidence, and provide strong support for successful product distribution.
This article provides a detailed introduction to the core functions and configuration methods of market risk monitoring.

Definition of Risk Monitoring

Risk monitoring refers to the process of real-time tracking, quantitative analysis, and proactive management of various market risks encountered during the investment operation of asset management products.

Gate and asset managers continuously monitor 11 core metrics on a 24/7 basis through predefined risk control rules and thresholds, including fund size, NAV, drawdown, exposure, and leverage. When any metric meets predefined trigger conditions, the system promptly notifies the manager and automatically enforces restriction measures according to the risk control strategy, effectively mitigating potential risks.

Risk Metrics

The system supports real-time monitoring and rule configuration for the following 11 core metrics:

Fund Size (Base Currency): NAV of the product denominated in the settlement currency.

Fund Size (USDT): NAV of the product denominated in USDT.

Share: Total number of product units.

NAV per Unit: Net asset value per unit.

24h NAV Drawdown: Maximum drawdown of NAV per unit over the past 24 hours.

Exposure Value: Directionally weighted risk exposure, including leverage.

Exposure Ratio: Ratio of position exposure to product NAV.

Total Position Value: Total notional value of all positions, regardless of direction.

Leverage Ratio: Actual leverage multiple used by the product.

Minor Token Position Value: Total value of holdings in low-liquidity small-cap tokens.

Minor Token Position Ratio: Ratio of small-cap holdings to product NAV.

Impact of Trigger Actions

Notification Only

A notification will be sent through the configured notification channels.

Trading Prohibited

A notification is triggered, and all trading permissions for the product are restricted.

Buy & Open Position Prohibited

A notification is triggered.
Only repayments are allowed for Multi-Currency Margin Mode.
Only buying the base currency or USDT is allowed for spot trading.
Only sell-to-close transactions are allowed for cross margin trading.
Only sell-to-close transactions are allowed for futures trading.

How to Remove Restrictions

Method 1: Automatic Removal
When the risk metrics fall back and no longer meet the trigger conditions, the system will automatically remove the restrictions.

Method 2: Manual Removal
The manager can view and remove active restrictions in [Alert Events].

FAQ

1. How can trading permissions be quickly restored after a risk control restriction is triggered?

  • Reduce Exposure: Actively close positions to lower leverage. Restrictions will be automatically lifted once metrics return to safe levels.
  • Add Margin: Deposit funds to increase NAV, thereby reducing leverage and drawdown.
  • Request Manual Removal: Apply for manual removal in [Alert Events].
  • Wait for Automatic Removal: If market conditions improve and metrics recover, the system will automatically lift the restrictions.

2. How can false triggers of risk control restrictions be avoided?

  • Set Reasonable Thresholds: Configure based on historical data and strategy characteristics to avoid overly strict settings.
  • Use Tiered Rules: Set both warning rules (notification only) and restriction rules (actual enforcement).
  • Enable Telegram Notifications: Respond to warnings in time and adjust positions before restrictions are triggered.
  • Review Logs Regularly: Analyze the causes of false triggers and optimize threshold settings.
  • Assess Before Large Trades: Evaluate the impact on risk metrics before opening large positions.

3. Can multiple risk control rules be configured at the same time?
Yes. Multiple risk control rules can be set for the same product to monitor different metrics. When any rule is triggered, the corresponding restriction action will be executed.
