On April 2 local time, a reporter from CCTV learned that Viktor Tregubov, head of communications for the Ukrainian Joint Forces, refuted Russia’s claim that it has fully occupied the Luhansk region, and stated that Ukrainian forces still control part of the area, and that the front situation remains stable. Tregubov said that although Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced on April 1 that its Western group had seized the entire Luhansk region, this claim is not accurate. He pointed out that while Russian forces control most of the territory in the region, the Ukrainian military still holds a strategically important area, and there have been no significant changes in the front situation recently.
