A 45-year-old man was arrested today in the New Territories by personnel of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data on suspicion of “doxxing” his girlfriend over a private dispute. He was granted bail pending investigation.

Investigations show that the arrested person met and dated the complainant in 2023. They broke up about two months later, but after the breakup they still kept in touch. Afterwards, their relationship worsened due to a dispute over building renovation matters.

Between December 2025 and January 2026, someone posted three times in succession on the complainant’s personal account on a social media platform, and also pasted flyers four times in different places, disclosing the complainant’s personal information and making negative comments about her.

The disclosed personal information includes the complainant’s Chinese name, aliases, gender, date of birth, Hong Kong identity card number, residential address, mobile phone number, and her photo.
