Golf club sets have really increased in variety recently, and when I looked at various beginner sets, the popular brands tend to be quite similar. Sets from well-known golf manufacturers like Callaway, Bridgestone, Mizuno, and others usually include about 10 clubs, from driver to putter, and the price range is roughly 40,000 to 110,000 yen.

The biggest differences in set contents are the number of woods and whether they include utility clubs. Some sets have only 2 woods, while others include a 1W and 3W, which affects the difficulty of long shots. It seems that popular golf brands consider this balance carefully. For example, Callaway sets include exactly one utility club.

Another surprising thing is that even among 11-club sets, there’s quite a price difference. The cheaper ones start at around 39,000 yen, while the more expensive ones can go over 110,000 yen. But for beginners making their course debut, a popular set in the 50,000 to 80,000 yen range should be sufficient. Usually, 4 to 5 irons and 2 to 3 wedges are enough to handle shots around the green.

The quality and number of pockets on the cart bag are also subtly important, and they vary quite a bit between brands. Most are made from a mix of PU material and polyester, but some are cart-style bags. Many people starting golf might not pay attention to these details when choosing a set. Since bags are used for a long time, the quality of the bag can also be an overlooked but important factor in choosing a popular set.
