Hey, I just checked the forecasts and a pretty strong cold front is coming to Mexico City these days. According to the SMN, Cold Front 41 will bring quite a bit of atmospheric instability due to interaction with the Gulf moisture. So if you live in CDMX or the Valley of Mexico, get ready for storms in the afternoons and evenings.

What’s happening is typical of these systems: a mass of cold air collides with warm air, generating all that cloudiness, winds, and rain. Specifically in Mexico City, they expect showers with lightning, possible hail, and moderate wind gusts. Temperatures will be unusual: cold mornings (around 10-12°C) and hot afternoons (26-28°C).

In CDMX, the sky will be quite cloudy in the afternoon, so don’t be surprised if the skies suddenly turn dark. Winds of 10 to 20 km/h with stronger gusts at times. If you need to go out, better take an umbrella and watch out for thunder. This is the typical pattern we see when these fronts reach the center of the country.
