Gamers are talking a lot about choosing the right racing wheel, but honestly, many people don't know which one to buy. After hearing from friends who are serious about racing games like Gran Turismo and trying out a few myself, I’ve compiled some practical information.

When choosing a racing wheel, the most important factors are the natural feel of the controls and the ability to perform fine adjustments. Quiet operation is also important. Especially, if the shifter and pedal feel realistic, the immersion is completely different.

The top recommendation is VelocityOne Race. The feel of the wheel and pedals is like a real car, and the direct drive response is fast. However, it costs around 115,480 yen, so it's for those with a bigger budget. For better cost performance, Thrustmaster’s T300RS GT (about 59,800 yen) is recommended. It’s officially licensed for Gran Turismo and includes 3 pedals. The control feel is realistic, with a steering range of 1080 degrees for fine tuning.

Logitech’s G29 is affordable at 44,980 yen, but it’s a bit noisy. The newer G923 features TRUEFORCE technology for more precise vibrations. It costs around 45,355 yen and offers good noise reduction.

Thrustmaster’s T248 (46,980 yen) also has a good shifter feel, with a leather finish that feels premium. Hori’s Truck Control System (84,981 yen) has 1800 degrees of rotation for high flexibility, but its large size can make handling a bit difficult.

For entry-level options, the T80 Ferrari 488 GTB Edition (21,000 yen) and Hori’s Handheld Controller (24,800 yen) are also choices. However, some may find the pedal feel and plastic construction less satisfying.

Hori’s Racing Wheel Apex (14,190 yen) is the cheapest, but it feels toy-like and may lack immersion.

Ultimately, if you’re serious about racing, choosing a mid-range or higher set with a racing wheel and shifter is the best. With a budget of around 30,000 to 50,000 yen, you can find products that offer a very realistic control experience. It’s best to choose based on your budget and the games you want to play.
