On March 5, Shen Danyang, head of the drafting group for the Government Work Report and director of the State Council Research Office, said at a press briefing hosted by the State Council Information Office that emphasizing people’s livelihood as a priority has been a prominent feature of the Government Work Report in recent years. This year’s Government Work Report places greater importance on safeguarding and improving people’s livelihood, with measures that are more focused on public concerns, such as emphasizing that fiscal support should prioritize people’s livelihood, formulating and implementing plans to increase income for urban and rural residents, and increasing the proportion of government investment in areas related to people’s well-being. All of these reflect the development philosophy of putting people at the center and demonstrate the government’s work orientation of doing more practical and beneficial things for ordinary people, so that the public can have a stronger sense of tangible gains.
