UNESCO expresses serious concern over higher education institutions affected by the Middle East situation.
On March 30 local time, UNESCO released a statement expressing serious concern about higher education institutions affected by the Middle East situation. The statement said that UNESCO clearly condemns attacks against universities and other educational institutions and strongly opposes the use of threats or intentional attacks on educational institutions as a means of retaliation. Recently, two Iranian universities were hit by airstrikes by the United States and Israel. Subsequently, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps listed Israel-based universities and U.S. universities in the Middle East region as “lawful strike targets.” (CCTV News)
