Iran Says Four Diplomats Killed In Israeli Strike In Beirut

According to the Iranian mission, the diplomats were killed early Sunday when Israel struck the Ramada Hotel in Beirut. The diplomats had reportedly been staying there at the time of the attack.

In a letter to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly, and the President of the Security Council, Iran said the diplomats had been moved from the embassy to the hotel due to Israeli threats, with coordination from the Lebanese government.

The Iranian mission described the killing as a targeted attack and said the diplomats were serving as official representatives of a sovereign state in another sovereign country.

Iran called the attack a serious violation of international law and described it as a“heinous terrorist act.” The mission urged the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn the killings and hold Israel accountable.

The incident comes amid the wider war between Iran, Israel, and the United States, which has increasingly spread across the Middle East.

Since the conflict began, Hezbollah in Lebanon has launched attacks against Israel in support of Iran, prompting Israeli airstrikes on parts of Beirut and southern Lebanon.

According to Lebanon’s health ministry, Israeli strikes in the country have killed more than 400 people so far, raising fears of further escalation across the region.
