🚨BREAKING: US Strikes Iran Near Strait of Hormuz

First Attack Since 14-Point Agreement Signed

The US military just struck Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz in response to a drone attack on a commercial vessel. It's the first American attack on Iran since the ceasefire deal was signed last week .

What Happened

The initial attack: Iran launched at least four one-way drones at ships transiting the Strait . One struck the Ever Lovely, a Singapore-flagged cargo ship, damaging its bridge . Three other drones were shot down. No casualties reported .

The US response: American aircraft hit Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites along the Strait of Hormuz and Qeshm Island . CENTCOM called it a "powerful response" to Iran's "dangerous behavior" .

The reaction: President Trump called the Iranian attack a "foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement" on Truth Social .

The Damaged Ship

The vessel: The Ever Lovely, a Singapore-flagged cargo ship owned by Evergreen Marine .

The attack: Hit on its starboard side by an unknown projectile, damaging the bridge .

Condition: Main engine and all navigation equipment continued to operate. The ship safely exited the Strait .

The Deeper Issue

The route dispute: The US favors a southern route hugging Oman's coast. Iran insists ships must use Tehran-approved routes closer to Iranian shores . Iran warned vessels against using the UN-backed Omani route hours before Thursday's attack .

Shipping chaos: The attack suspended a UN effort to evacuate ~500 stranded ships . Only 115 of ~600 ships were evacuated before the suspension .

The numbers: Transits dropped from 78 on Wednesday to just 43 after Thursday's attack .

Ceasefire Status

The deal: The June 15 memorandum of understanding established a 60-day framework . Iran agreed to use "best efforts" for safe, toll-free passage through the Strait .

The bottom line: The US says this was a targeted response, not a return to major combat . But with both sides testing limits, the 60-day framework is cracking fast.

Tensions remain high. One false missile alert in Dubai briefly sent the city into panic . The Strait of Hormuz—through which 20% of the world's oil passes—is once again a flashpoint .
