#我的Gate交易时刻 I've been trading on Gate.io for a few years now, from spot to futures, from copy trading to analyzing K-lines myself. I've stepped on more pits than I've eaten meals. But if I had to pick a "key trade," it would definitely be the ETH short contract in the fall of 2025. That trade caused me to lose 30% of my account capital, but it also made me truly start to respect the market and understand what "survival first, profit second" really means.

At that time, market sentiment was extremely FOMO-driven, with ETH rallying nearly 40% in a week, and various KOLs shouting "the bull is returning quickly." I looked at the technical indicators—RSI was seriously overbought, and the price was far from the moving average. A sense of superiority as a "smart person" naturally arose: at this level, it must pull back! So, I went all-in, opened a 20x short position, even fantasizing that this wave down would double my account funds.

But the market taught me a harsh lesson. I overlooked that at that time, we were in a news vacuum period, and major funds often hunt at the most liquid points. After entering, ETH not only didn't fall but continued to slowly climb 2%. For me with 20x leverage, this 2% already broke my psychological stop-loss line. I didn't cut losses; instead, I chose the stupidest move—adding to my position to average down, trying to prove I was right.

Then, the nightmare struck. A 5% solid bullish candle directly broke through my average entry price. Watching my account equity fall like a waterfall, with the forced liquidation price just inches away, my hands trembled, but I still clung to hope, betting it was a "false breakout." Until finally, the system popped up that unforgettable red window—"Your position has been forcibly liquidated."

At that moment, my account balance instantly hit zero, and my mind went blank. That liquidation not only lost me money but also shattered my blind confidence in my trading system. After the pain, I reflected on this failure and summarized three painful lessons:

1. Never guess tops or bottoms against the trend: even if indicators show overbought, the power of the trend is no match for news and capital flow. Trading on the right side is always safer than trying to catch the top on the left side.
2. Stop-loss is the lifeline: if I had cut losses decisively when losing 2%, I would have lost only a small part of my capital, not 30%. Without stop-loss, you're leaving your fate to market dice.
3. Position management is key: full position + high leverage is a recipe for liquidation. Later, I learned the "pyramid building method" and strictly controlled each trade's loss to no more than 2% of total funds.

Now, I still trade on Gate.io, but my mindset has changed. I no longer chase overnight riches but manage my trading account like running a business. That liquidation became the most expensive and yet most valuable lesson in my trading career.

I hope my story can serve as a warning to beginners. The market is never short of opportunities; what’s lacking is patience and discipline. Wishing everyone steady profits on Gate and to hold onto your chips securely.
