According to Caixin, Peng Jing, founding partner and director of Chongqing Jingsheng Law Firm, was recently taken away by relevant authorities. Previously, Chongqing Mayor Hu Henghua was reported to be under investigation on March 20, 2026, and subsequently, Luo Lin, a standing member of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Liangjiang New Area Committee, was announced to have fallen from power on April 17. According to sources in Chongqing's political and business circles, both Hu Henghua and Luo Lin's falls involved bribery and money laundering through stablecoins, with Peng Jing being identified as a key figure, suspected of assisting in money laundering under the guise of collecting "lawyer fees." An insider revealed that in Hu Henghua's case, Lin Xiucheng's son-in-law, Lin Kechuang, paid him 30.08 million USDT (approximately 210 million RMB), of which 10 million USDT was for exchange fees. After gaining control of Hu Henghua's cold wallet, authorities further traced the flow of funds from six other cold wallets held by Lin Kechuang, with one transfer of 15.5 million USDT allegedly sent to Luo Lin. Luo Lin was taken away on April 14, and his hidden third-party cold wallet has been seized.
